About The Centre

Markfield is a medium sized, well populated village in the North-West of Leicestershire. It is located between the new National Forest and also Charnwood Forest. The village has very strong road links as it is situated next to junction 22 of the M1 motorway and close by to the A50 and A46 trunk roads.

The Community Centre is located right in the middle of the village yet is still easily accessible by road and public transport. The current building was opened in 1987 following fund raising and hard work by local villagers and volunteers. The centre is staffed with a very hard working team of people. In fact apart from 2 weeks at Christmas time the Centre is open from 8am to 9:30pm every week day and is also open to bookings and events at weekends.

Many groups and organisations use the Centre, catering for a variety of interests for all sections of the local community and surrounding parishes and rural areas. We provide sport, leisure and recreational activities as well as an array of facilities. For example the Centre will soon be hosting a Pre-School and after school club every weekday. There are also various Youth Clubs during the evenings and a very extensive summer youth program. A list of activities with contact numbers can be obtained on this site or from the Centre office. Furthermore the building, which has a variety of flexible purposes, is available for hire for functions and other activities - full details are on this site or, again from the Centre office.

The MCA is now embarking on an exciting project in order to improve upon the facilities available at the centre and to allow it to meet the current and near-future demands of an expending rural village which is located some 30 mile round trip from the hub of the borough.
