Markfield is a medium sized village with a population of around 5,000. Markfield is located in the nothern parishes of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough. We are located in a beatiful rural area with the surrounding National Forest and Charnwood forests. Access to the village is easy as we are only a mile or so from junction 22 of the M1 motorway with the A511(A50) runing through the outer edge of the village. The city of Leicester is only 7 miles down the A511 and there is also easy access to the A46 trunk road. East Midlands Airport is also only a short journey away. Hinckley, the main centre of administration for the Borough is a bit more difficult to reach especially by public transport being about 18 miles away as the crow flies.
The Community Centre is ideally located in the middle of the village with street signs showing its location. It is idealy located near to the Village medical Centre, Post Office, School, Library and local shops all being just a few minutes walk away.

The Centre was originally opened by the now Lord Sebastian Coe in 1987 current building was opened in 1987 with funding from Sport England and a lot of fund raising and hard work by local villagers and volunteers. In 2007 the Centre embarked on an ambitious extension and refurbishment project and, as a result, in 2010 the completed work saw the addition of a new large spsorts hall extension, community office, public access internet cafe, local Authority staff touch down base, local Police Beat Team office space as well as other refurbishment and environmental improvement schemes.
The centre has charitable status with the responsibility of its overall day to day management being with its voluntary management committee. The Centre is managed by a full time Centre Manager whose post is funded by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough and Markfield Parish Councils for which we are eternally grateful
Following the extension project the Centre is now available all week days from 9am to 10pm as well as at weekends for bookings and events.
The centre is staffed with a very hard working team of part time paid staff as well as volunteers.
We have a "cradle to grave" outlook on what activities and events we put on at the centre. If you have a look a our activities and news pages you will see that we cover a huge range of sports, leisure activities, clubs and events for people of all ages and backgrounds. The centre is not exclusive for the village but also for outr surrounding rural areas and villages.
The Centre has full disabled access and facilities for people who have disabilities.
